I was tagged by the amazing Eloiseisreading! I love doing book tags, because I think they’re so much fun to do and to share! I hope y’all like this one!
1. What book would you make everyone read?
I would make everyone read The Martian by Andy Weir, because that is one of my absolute favorite books! However, I would put an age restriction haha. Maybe when you turn 16 instead of a car you get to read The Martian. 😉
2. What would you abolish in book construction?
I don’t know about everyone else, but I hate when some books have blurbs on the cover. I like when the cover is just the cover and blurbs are on the back. I find this happens a lot with paperbacks since the synopsis is on the back. I have a paperback copy of Throne of Glass and it bothers me that right on the front it has this bright blue circle that says, “Experience the world of Throne of Glass with never-before-seen extras”. Don’t get me wrong I love “never-before-seen extras”, but it bothers me seeing it on the cover of my book.
3. What author would you commission to write you any book?
I would say Andy Weir, because I love his book so much but I think I’ll go with W. Bruce Cameron. I chose him rather than Andy Weir, because I would get W. Bruce Cameron to write about one of my many pets I’ve had. I loved reading his books A Dog’s Purpose and A Dog’s Journey. He did an amazing job at making me feel like I knew what was going on in a dog’s mind. Maybe he could write a book called A Guinea Pig’s Journey haha 😉
4. What book would you demote to the library basement to make room for new books?
I would say romance novels would have to go to the basement. I like romance don’t get me wrong, but I think I would rather see some new books instead of romance…plus they would just be in the basement. I can go get them if I want to read them haha. I just like fantasy, action, and sci-fi books more than I like romance novels.
5. What cover artists would you commission to make a mural?
I wasn’t sure about this question at first, because I don’t really know any artists by names. Therefore, I decided I would pick a book with one of my favorite covers and see who the artist is. The book I chose is The Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan. The beautiful art on the cover is by artist John Rocco. I think it is one of my favorite covers, because it’s just so colorful and looks so magical! I bought the book because of its cover I didn’t even read the synopsis…whoops! Cover art is powerful when choosing a book and I’m glad there’s a question about it because I feel like the artist doesn’t get enough credit, so you go John Rocco!
6. What character’s face would you put on a coin?
Obviously Mark Watney from The Martian! Duh, who else should be on a coin? He survived Mars…I think that deserves his face on a coin. If I was left on Mars the least I could get is my face on a coin, right?
7. What book would you award the”Ruler of Books” 2016 Prize to?
I would say The Martian, but I didn’t read it this year and I’ve said it too much haha. This is a hard question but I’m going to go with the book Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige. I really loved that book a lot and even though I haven’t finished the series it’s still “Ruler of Books” to me. However some honorable mentions would be Maus I and Maus II, Starflight, and More Happy Than Not. Now my “Ruler of Books” 2016 Prize might change considering 2016 isn’t over and I still have a lot of books to read!
I had a lot of fun doing this tag and I hope y’all had just as much fun reading my answers! It was super fun and cool to do so I suggest anyone and everyone do it! Have an amazing day everyone!
