Hey! It’s Sunday which means it’s time for the Three Stars! So, basically what I do is will pick to post about three books, three characters, three authors, etc. I try my best to do this every Sunday.
I was wondering if y’all would like this to continue to only be bookish things or if y’all would prefer it to expand into other things. Comment on this post what you’re thinking!! ❤
E-books, Physical Books, and Audiobooks!
1. I figured I would start with my thoughts on e-books. I have a Kindle Fire that I got used ages ago. It still works amazingly though which is awesome! I’m pretty sure it’s at least four years old…and I bought it used! Worth it!
I love e-books when I have to travel. I travel to and from Canada and having my Kindle makes it so easy, because I have so many books to choose from if I get bored of one book or if I finish a book I have more to pick from! It’s super easy to carry around a kindle in my bag. It’s not bulky and hardly takes up any space in my bag and it doesn’t weigh much. I can read in the dark! That can be very helpful from a few different standpoints. I like to read in the car and so when it gets dark I don’t have to put my book away, I can read in my room without having to disturb anyone by having a light on, and I like to take later flights so I don’t have to disturb the person next to me on the plane by having my reading light on….let’s face it that light disturbs multiple people haha. You can get books cheaper, which is always nice. Plus, you can buy it and have it rather than buying one online and waiting for it to get to your house.
However, e-books aren’t always amazing. The battery can die and unless you carry a charger with you then you’re outta luck (I carry a portable battery with me). After a while the light can bother your eyes…well it can bother my eyes. Some people also get headaches from e-readers. You don’t get to use a cool bookmark! I love being able to pick a bookmark for my next read and obviously you can’t do that with an e-book. That’s all the bad I can think of. Sometimes having so many options can be overwhelming.
Overall, I love my Kindle and I love my e-books. I think it was worth the investment, because I use mine a lot especially when traveling. It makes it easy to have a book, or a library, with me wherever I go. However there are downsides to having an e-reader. Do you have one? What do you think about it?
2. Physical books will always be my favorite. I have more physical books than e-books or audiobooks combined. So, I guess physical books are very much alive and they’re not going anywhere.
I don’t really think there are a lot of pros and cons when it comes to a physical book. I mean it cant die, but it’s bulky and harder to carry in a purse. You can’t read it in the dark without a light. They look so beautiful and aesthetically pleasing!
The reason I love having a physical book over any other form is because I want my own mini library in my home one day. I think most book lovers want that and that’s why most bookworms love physical books. There’s just something beautiful when you see a lot of books on a shelf.
That’s all I gotta say about that….I know I didn’t say much, but I said what I had to say. I will always prefer having the physical book, but that’s just me. 🙂 What do you prefer?
3. I can’t say too much on audiobooks, because I don’t have audible. I just use a free app for my audiobooks. All the audiobooks I listen to are classics, which doesn’t bother me. I prefer to listen to classics it helps me understand it better and pay attention more. If you would like me to write a separate post about the app I use just let me know in the comments! ❤
Since I don’t have audible I can’t say a lot on the subject because I don’t listen to any YA. I mean I feel like that would change some things if I was listening to books I want to read. I’m listening to book I don’t want to read because I would rather listen to them therefore I really appreciate audiobooks.
I think audiobooks are also great for travel because sometimes I get tired of reading and it helps to be able to listen to them. Like I said listening to classics also helps me understand it better and follow along with it better. They’re also great for when you’re doing tasks but still want to get reading done. I like to listen to audiobooks when I’m doing my makeup and they’re great for when you’re doing work around the house.
Overall, I like audibooks and I think they’re very helpful and useful. They can be very helpful when you’re in a reading slump. However, audiobooks can be kind of controversial because some don’t think you’re reading if you’re listening. What do you think? Do you listen to audiobooks? Do you like them?
Anyway, that’s all I have for y’all today. I would love to hear y’all’s thoughts! Comment below and chat with me! 🙂 Have a great day!!
