It’s been a while since I’ve done this and I’m sorry for that, but I’m back! I’ve always loved this post because it’s a great way to find new books or help others discover new books. It’s also fun to write! I love hearing books y’all are anticipating as well.
This post is something I started to help y’all discover new books and to talk about books I’m excited for or want. I usually do this post every Wednesday and basically I just talk about a book I’m excited to read. It’s also meant for y’all to talk about books y’all are excited for! 🙂 So, make sure you comment too! ❤
At seventeen, Mei should be in high school, but skipping fourth grade was part of her parents’ master plan. Now a freshman at MIT, she is on track to fulfill the rest of this predetermined future: become a doctor, marry a preapproved Taiwanese Ivy Leaguer, produce a litter of babies.
With everything her parents have sacrificed to make her cushy life a reality, Mei can’t bring herself to tell them the truth–that she (1) hates germs, (2) falls asleep in biology lectures, and (3) has a crush on her classmate Darren Takahashi, who is decidedly not Taiwanese.
But when Mei reconnects with her brother, Xing, who is estranged from the family for dating the wrong woman, Mei starts to wonder if all the secrets are truly worth it. Can she find a way to be herself, whoever that is, before her web of lies unravels?
I was looking around on Goodreads for books that are being released in 2018 and I came across this book. The title really caught my attention and so I decided to read the synopsis and it kind of reminds me of When Dimple Met Rishi and I loved that book! I just had to add this to my TBR because it sounds interesting and pretty cute. 🙂
This book will probably be in another post of mine about books I’m excited for in 2018 haha. I like the cover it’s definitely a contemporary style. I can’t be the only one who thinks about When Dimple Met Rishi when I look at this book and read the synopsis right? I mean I know they’re very different, but that book just came to my mind immediately haha.
It seems like a cute story with some good twists and I just find the whole college scene interesting especially because of her age and it seems like this book will have a pretty good message to go along with it.
What are y’all’s thoughts on this book? What are some books you can’t wait to read in 2018? COMMENT BELOW ❤
