Meet Zeva!

I asked if y’all wanted some more personal posts and y’all said yes! So, Tea Talk is where I will talk about my life and everything that goes on or just tell y’all some stories haha.

I decided to start with something dear to my heart and that is my pup Zeva!

This is my beautiful girl! Her name is Zeva…pronounced Zee-va. If you’ve ever watched NCIS then you’ll know where I got the name from haha. Zeva is a badass character in the show and I thought the name fit perfectly for my puppy haha.

As you can tell I call her a puppy but she’s definitely not! She turned 9 this year! She’s grown up so fast haha. I got Zeva from a kill shelter in Austin. They were about to put her down because she had over stayed her welcome there and she was labeled as aggressive. My previous dog had just passed away and I was still pretty young…like 8th grade young and my dad asked if I wanted another dog. He sent me a picture of her and I couldn’t resist.

She was four years old when we got her and she didn’t seem aggressive to me at all! She instantly became attached to me and I instantly fell in love with her. I’ve had her for five years and I am so thankful for her. I am definitely an animal lover and I’ve never been without a pet haha.

So, let’s see….let’s talk a little bit about Zeva’s past. Her name used to be Diamond but I didn’t like it. She had been in and out of a few homes and finally wound up at the shelter. One reason she was given up by previous owners is because she used to eat their chickens…so that made adopting her a little more difficult because we had cats and they were worried she would kill them. Zeva has never hurt any of our cats she just looks at them weird and wants to play with them…but they’re cats and they don’t wanna play back haha.

Zeva was also abused in a previous home of hers so she isn’t fond of guys especially if they’re loud. She gets really on edge and growls. I try to keep her out of situations that stress her out which means I can’t really take her places because she’s also really protective of me. One time on a walk with her she started barking at these guys who walked past me. I was very embarrassed and I felt horrible haha. Thankfully they didn’t care! And don’t worry she’s never hurt anyone besides stepping on feet haha.

So, yeah I don’t take Zeva out too much for a few reasons. 1.) She’s not a fan of guys clearly and I never know how she’ll react. 2.) She is 9 and it’s very hard for her to get in and out of the car. And 3.) I don’t know if she’ll get along with other dogs. I say that because she doesn’t really get along with one of our other dogs and that’s kind of a long story that doesn’t matter haha. Dogs are like people sometimes and they can have problems with one another.

I don’t want y’all to think she’s a bad dog or anything because she is a total sweetheart! It just takes her some time to warm up to people because of her past. That’s something that probably breaks my heart the most is that people already have a negative view of Rottweilers and she has a bit of a past and not a lot of people know something like that so she’s immediately labeled as aggressive.

If you couldn’t tell I can get kind of defensive, in a way, when it comes to my pup. Zeva has always been a sweetheart to me and she is very protective over me which I love because it shows how much she cares about me.

Zeva is getting old and that’s why I decided to write this post. She’s my beautiful girl and with this new job I don’t know how often I will get to see her. She’s my world and I just love her deeply. I figured I would share this with y’all because she makes up a huge part of my life. I don’t know how many years she has left in her, but I’m hoping it’s a lot! 🙂 ❤ She’s my baby and not being able to see her will be rough but I’ll manage haha.
