In epic YA fantasy about a girl with a special power to communicate with magical beasts and the warring kingdom only she can save.
Elin’s family has an important responsibility: caring for the fearsome water serpents that form the core of their kingdom’s army. So when some of the beasts mysteriously die, Elin’s mother is sentenced to death as punishment. With her last breath she manages to send her daughter to safety.
Alone, far from home, Elin soon discovers that she can talk to both the terrifying water serpents and the majestic flying beasts that guard her queen. This skill gives her great powers, but it also involves her in deadly plots that could cost her life. Can she save herself and prevent her beloved beasts from being used as tools of war? Or is there no way of escaping the terrible battles to come?
I saw this book a couple weeks ago in Barnes & Noble and I fell in love with the cover. I picked it up and decided to give the synopsis a go. Well, I fell in love with that too. It sounds like such a cool and fun read I can’t wait to read it! I’ve been trying to be better about my spending though so I didn’t buy it. I had just bought some books and I have a lot I need to get through so I figured once I’ve started tackling some of the books I already have that I would finally buy it as a gift for myself. So, I’m proud of myself for that haha.
I just can’t get over how beautiful the cover looks. What’re your thoughts? Sound interesting or not your cup of tea? I just think it sounds so fun. I’ve been reading a lot of contemporary books or thrillers that I don’t seem to read as much YA fantasy anymore. So, I can’t wait to buy this book someday in the near future
My sister was with me when I found this book and she knows how desperately I wanted to buy it. Don’t get me wrong I could afford it, but I have so many books that need to be read so I forced myself to hold off. I’m trying not to “waste” my money as much on books that’ll just sit on my shelf until I can finally get to them.
This book just seems so interesting and different and I can’t wait to pick it up. What’re your thoughts? Do you like the cover? Do you think it sounds boring? Have you heard of it before? Comment below! ❤
