May Wrap-Up

These are all the books I read for the month of May! It was such a good reading month and I couldn’t be more proud of myself. I can’t wait to see all the books I read next month!

ghost stories of old texas

1. Ghost Stories of Old Texas by Zinita Fowler

Rating: 3/5

This was a super quick read but it was a pretty fun read as well. It is just full of a lot of older stories and I enjoyed it. They weren’t really scary unless you have a good imagination, but I still thought it was a fun book to read. It’s one of those books that you can read that just takes your mind off of everything since it’s simple and fun. 🙂

not like everyone else

2. Not Like Everyone Else by Jennifer Leigh

Rating: 2/5 Stars

Wow, I feel like a horrible person. Jennifer is such a sweetheart and I wanted to love this book, but I just didn’t. I feel so bad for not loving this book. For the full review just click here. I just wasn’t a fan of this book…I didn’t really resonate with the characters, I didn’t think the writing was all that great, and I easily guessed who the killer was. Just wasn’t the book for me.

atomic habits

3. Atomic Habits by James Clear

Rating: 4/5 Stars

This was a good book with a lot of good tips. I might even listen to the audiobook again and take notes this time just to solidify what’s inside. It’s a pretty quick read but I only listened to it while I was getting ready for work which doesn’t take a lot of time haha. I definitely recommend this book though. 🙂

the statistical probability of love at first sight

4. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith

Rating: 4/5 Stars

This book is so cheesy and I absolutely loved it! It’s like watching those cute love movies/shows haha. I just found this book to be so sweet and adorable and I loved watching how everything played out. I loved how Hadley seemed to grow and how she changed her views on her father and his new life. It was such a cute touching story and a very quick/easy read. I would recommend it for sure!

5. The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald

Rating: 3/5 Stars

So, I listened to the audiobook and I enjoyed it. It’s definitely a better read when you’re not annotating it for school haha. I liked it…not much else to say about it haha. It was just a read that was for fun and I enjoyed it.

circus mirandus

6. Circus Mirandus by Cassie Beasley

Rating: 4/5 Stars

This was such a cute and fun read just like I predicted. I really enjoyed it and I’m so glad to have picked it up this month. This was just such a cute book and it was a nice change from what I’ve been reading. 🙂

7. Coraline by Neil Gaiman

Rating: 4/5 Stars

At first, I thought that the movie was better as I was listening to this audiobook and then I decided that the book is better. I love them both though and I’m so glad to have finally read the book. It was so great just like the movie!!

8. The Sun Is Also A Star by Nicola Yoon

Rating: 3/5 Stars

I definitely think this book is overhyped. It wasn’t bad but there were things I disliked about it. I did really enjoy the ending though…it had a twist I wasn’t expecting and the ending kinda just felt right I guess haha. It made it worth reading. However, Natasha was so rude and selfish which annoyed me a lot…I’m not gonna get into it all though because this is just a little brief thang about my feelings on this book haha. Not worth the hype but not an awful book.

9. Checked by Cynthia Kadohata

Rating: 5/5 Stars

I loved this book. Absolutely loved it. Y’all can read my full review for it here. I just thought this book was so cute and it has some really good lessons for younger kids…hell, they’re good lessons for adults too haha. It was such a cute and fun read. I just loved it.

A little update on IT: I’m not over 200 pages in! It’s still pretty dang boring! I hate King’s writing…like he takes way to long to describe things and he doesn’t do it in a good way either. I love description but I love it when it’s done in a way that 1.) makes sense 2.) keeps it interesting and 3.) doesn’t just turn into fluff. I feel like King’s description is someone trying to fluff up an essay with a lot of words as well as big words. I also feel like his way of describing things doesn’t add to the point of things…hence fluff. It just seems like too much. Anyway, that’s my little rant haha.

Anyway, this was a super good month for me and I’m just so proud of myself. We’ll see what I accomplish next month. 😀
