The Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag

So, I saw this done over on Ellias’s YT channel and thought it seemed fun. πŸ™‚ I hope y’all enjoy!

The Best Book You’ve Read So Far In 2021:

Lonesome Dove This is my new favorite book so it only seems fitting. I can’t get over how much I love this book. This book is about two retired Texas rangers who decide to drive cattle on up to Montana and you follow their journey. You see all the trials and tribulations they have to go through. It’s written so well and I loved the characters so much. I definitely recommend this book for sure.

Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far In 2021:

beautiful bitch I guess I’ll just go with this book. I don’t really read series or anything besides manga… Anyway, this book is considered 1.5 in the Beautiful Bastard series and I liked it. It follows Chloe and Bennett from the first book and you get a glimpse into their lives after a year has passed. I don’t want to potentially spoil anything so I’ll just leave it at that.

New Release You Haven’t Read Yet But Want To:

instant karma I’m definitely excited to read this book. I don’t know when I’ll get to it but I’m hoping it’s soon. Marissa Meyer is a favorite author of mine for sure. πŸ™‚

Most Anticipated Release For The Second Half Of The Year:

I’m sorry I don’t have an answer for this one so we’re just gonna move on.

Biggest Disappointment:

Oh, man was I disappointed with this book. I don’t read a lot fantasy type books, but I was excited to finally pick this one after having it on my TBR for so long. It was such a disappointment I think I gave it only two stars. I was just so bored with it and couldn’t get invested in the characters or their story at all. I have heard the second one is better but decided to skip it because I don’t care enough about the characters to even continue with this book. It just dragged on for so long and was such a let down.

Biggest Surprise:

I’m going with these three books because they definitely surprised me. I wasn’t sure I would like them but I”m glad I gave them the chance because I was pleasantly surprised with how much they hooked me in. πŸ™‚

Favorite New Author (Debut or new to you):

my favorite half night stand

Christina Lauren. I discovered her this year through this book and really liked her. I decided I would read some of her other books, but hadn’t gotten around to it yet. I started reading Beautiful Bastard and really enjoyed it and I hadn’t even realized it was written by her. I was shooketh. I will definitely keep reading her books. πŸ™‚ I need to get some of her books in physical format rather than all e-books or audiobooks haha.

Newest Fictional Crush:

I’m gonna have to go with Ellias and what he said which was pretty much I’m single haha. I agree. I’m single in the real world and the fictional world. No book crushes for me. I’ve never really been one to have a book crush anyway haha. I can love a character but it’s still differrent.

Newest Favorite Character:

Lonesome Dove

I’m sorry since this is a new favorite it’s all I can think about haha. Anyway I’m gonna have to go with Augustus from Lonesome Dove. He’s funny, smart, and has an incredible attitude. I love the witty remarks he has and I love the good advice he has as well. He may be a bit of a goof but he isn’t dumb by any means. I also love how stubborn he is all throughout the book.

A Book That Made You Cry:

what comes after

At first I couldn’t think of one that made me cry this year but then I realized I did cry while reading this book. Now I don’t know if I normally would have cried, but because of something that happened in the book as well as stuff that’s happened in my life it broke me down. Like I said I’m not sure I would have cried if maybe I read this book last year. However, I think everything that happens is meant to happen when it happens. I know I’m very poetic. πŸ˜‰ So, yeah this book made me bawl like a baby during one part haha. I don’t wanna spoil any of it..which I’m not sure it’s even much of a spoiler but just because of how I am I don’t like to know anything about a book other than the synopsis. I like to go into a book without prior knowledge because to me anything is a spoiler even if it’s not something someone considers “important”. I don’t know if that makes sense but hopefully y’all get it haha.

A Book That Made You Happy:

one piece 4

One Piece is always so much fun to read. I love this series and I can’t wait to keep going with it. I love the characters and I love how fun and adventurous the story is. πŸ™‚

Most Beautiful Book You Bought This Year So Far Or Recieved:

arsenic and adobo

Definitely Arsenic And Adobo. I fell in love with the cover the minute I saw it. I still think this cover is stunning. πŸ™‚

What Books Do You Need To Read By The End Of The Year:

I just chose a few books I would like to finish by the end of this year. There’s also a lot of manga I plan to finish as well. My TBR is pretty long so I just picked a few off of it that I hope I can get to before the year is over. That doesn’t even include the BOTM books haha. Hopefully I finish this year off strong with a smaller physical TBR. πŸ™‚

I hope y’all enjoyed this post! Feel free to join in if you want or answer a question in the comments! ❀ I love talking with y’all! Happy reading!

  1. Cool post! Haha, when I saw Ellias’s video I was like, “OMG it’s that time of the year already!😱 I also read Carve the Mark, and I thought it was okay while reading it. Thinking back though, I barely remember anything about it–pretty forgettable overall.
