It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover
Rating: 5/5 Stars
Sometimes it is the one who loves you who hurts you the most.
Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up
— she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.
Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.
As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan — her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.
Spoiler free of course!
This book was so surprising. I thought this book was just a cute romance which is why I decided to pick it up but man did this book play with my emotions and completely wreck me. I loved every minute of it though. This book touches on so many important topics and the author did such a great job with the characters and the writing.
I really fell for the characters from the beginning. I loved Lily so much and watching her grow and change throughout the novel. I loved seeing Lily grow stronger despite having to face some hard truths. I loved Atlas and I wish he was in the book more, but I’m also okay with how often he actually was in the book.
I think the author did a great job writing this book and developing the characters. Like I said I was expecting a cute romance and was completely thrown for a loop haha. This book surprised me in so many ways and the only thing I didn’t like about it was that I didn’t pick it up sooner. Such an incredible read and I’ll definitely be reading more of Hoover’s books in the future.
I really don’t want to say too much about this book because I don’t want to spoil anything and this book has a lot of stuff that happens. I definitely recommend this book but just know it’s not a fluffy and adorable romance it’s got a lot of tough topics that are brought up.
I haven’t binged a book in a long time and I listened to the audiobook while also reading my hard copy as well and I think the narrator did a good job at bringing this book to life. Like I said I recommend this book but it has some tough things that come up and if you’re not in a good place then I would probably not read this one.
Anyway, I know this review is short but I hope y’all like it anyway! I can’t believe I finished this book so quickly haha it’s been so long since I’ve binged a book or even wanted to finish a book.
