On Mystic Lake by Kristin Hannah
Rating: 4/5 Stars
Annie Colwater’s husband has just confessed that he’s in love with a younger woman. Devastated, Annie retreats to the small town where she grew up. There, she is reunited with her first love, Nick Delacroix, a recent widower who is unable to cope with his silent, emotionally scarred young daughter. Together, the three of them begin to heal. But just when Annie believes she’s been given a second chance at happiness, her world is turned upside down again, and she is forced to make a choice that no woman in love should ever have to make.
I really liked this book. I honestly think it was what I needed at this time and I’m glad I read it. I listened to the audiobook and I thought it was really good so I would recommend that if you can listen to it. I listened to it on Scribd.
I liked Annie and watching her change and grow into the person she really wants to be even if it’s when she’s 40 years old. Sometimes life can be rough and we go down a path we don’t mean to without realizing it and I like that this book shows that it’s okay to change up your life and choose a different path. You can do or be what you want despite your age. I think often times that’s forgotten.
I love how deep this book could be and it does have some tough topics that are touched on. I thought the characters were really interesting and I really liked them and cared about how they ended up and how their journeys went. I like how this book ended too. It took a path I wasn’t expecting and I thought it was pretty good.
I don’t have anything I disliked about this book I just didn’t get that five-star feeling from it haha. I know as fellow book readers y’all will understand haha. I do plan on reading more of Kristin Hannah’s books in the future. Like I said I really like and recommend the audiobook if you can!
I think this book had so many sweet and caring moments and a lot of deep and reflective moments as well. I resonated with the characters and the story in my own way and it made me feel connected to it while I was reading it and it made me appreciate the book more.
I would recommend this book if you’re someone who’s a fan of Nicholas Sparks because that’s kind of what it reminded me of haha. I thought it was a good slow paced book though. 🙂
I hope y’all enjoyed this review and have a blessed day! ❤
