October Wrap-Up

Hey y’all here are all the books I read in the month of October! I hope y’all enjoy! make sure to tell me some of the books you read during October as well! 🙂

hockey karma

1. Hockey Karma by Howard Shapiro

Rating: 4/5 stars

I love all things hockey so it’s no surprise that I loved this book. However, I made a mistake. I didn’t realize this book was the third book in the Forever Friends trilogy. So, basically I read the trilogy backwards! I honestly can’t believe I made this mistake, but at the same time it’s totally something I would do. I love graphic novels though and I was very happy to read one about hockey.

the hockey saint

2. The Hockey Saint by Howard Shapiro

Rating: 4/5 stars

I wasn’t kidding when I said I’m reading this trilogy backwards haha. Anyway, they’re super easy reads and graphic novels always help me when I’m in a slump because they don’t take as much dedication as a full novel does…that sounds bad, but hopefully y’all know what I mean. I have a full review up so I’m not gonna say too much here. Overall I enjoyed this book and that’s not really a surprise since I love graphic novels and hockey haha.

dennis maruk

3. Dennis Maruk: The Unforgettable Story Of Hockey’s Forgotten 60-Goal Man by Dennis Maruk

Rating: 5/5 stars

I wrote a review for this book which you can read by clicking here. I really, really enjoyed this book. I just love hockey and I really loved hearing Maruk’s story. I was able to connect with this book in a way I wasn’t expecting. This was such a good book and I am so thankful to have been approved on NetGalley to read it!

wounds are where light enters

4. Wounds Are Where Light Enters by Walter Wangerin Jr.

Rating: 3/5 stars

I wrote a review for this book here! So, this book was pretty good and helped me through a rough month. I was going through a reading slump and this book was pretty short so I was excited to give it a read. I finished it pretty quickly and the messages in the stories seemed to help me with my faith. Sometimes when things aren’t going so well it’s easy to lose faith and this book was a great reminder on why we need to keep our faith through these hard times.

blessed in the darkness

5. Blessed In The Darkness by Joel Osteen

Rating: 5/5 stars

So, I have a review up for this book here! Make sure you check that out if you want all the details! ❤ Anyway, I really enjoyed this book. It was really helpful because this month had some rough patches. If you didn’t know I am a Christian and this book is about God and how He helps us through the dark times. I’m not one to talk about my faith much just because of how negative people can be, but if you are a Christian I definitely suggest you give this book a try!

the stereotypical freaks

6. The Stereotypical Freaks by Howard Shapiro

Rating: 4/5 stars

This is the first book in the trilogy. I liked this trilogy and I have a full review of all three books here. I thought the message of the book was good and it was just a quick, easy, and fun read. I need more graphic novels in my life.

Overall it wasn’t  a bad reading month, but at the same time I don’t feel happy with the amount I read. I was in a slump this month which was sad and unfortunate, but I managed to read a good amount.

Happy Halloween!! Have a safe and fun Halloween! ❤

  1. Hahaha if I had not already read your tag and you telling us you play hockey and are a fan I think I would have guessed based on your October books.
